Skolstil

Fonts and software for training basic writing skills

Many pupils find it hard to understand that the letters of the alphabet can be written in many different ways. Thus, if the letters look the same when they write with pen and paper and when they write on the computer, they will learn better and faster.

Skolstil (ISBN 91-631-7863-X) is a new software for Windows that takes care of this in a simple and amusing way!

Skolstil contains two fonts that look like the letters pupils learn to write by hand. One is in normal type and the other is in italics. When the software is installed, the fonts are being placed in the default fonts folder, which means that they also can be used in other programs on the computer.

System requirements: Microsoft Windows (95/98/2000/XP)
Minimum screen resolution: 800x600 pixels

Skolstil makes it possible to hear the sounds of the letters as they are being written. This makes it a great tool to train spelling by sounding out letters. In addition to this, Skolstil makes it easy to print out lined papers for handwriting exercises.

Together with the software comes an instructional paper that uses arrows to show how the different letters and numbers should be formed. Cursive style and writing the letters correctly makes it easier to learn longhand.

Skolstil is sold by Firma Karin Ohlis in Bollnäs, Sweden.
